How to calculate VAT in Saudi Arabia

Add VAT

Gross = Net × 1.15

SAR 1,000.00 net + SAR 150.00 VAT = SAR 1,150.00

Remove VAT

Net = Gross ÷ 1.15

SAR 1,150.00 gross − SAR 150.00 VAT = SAR 1,000.00

Saudi Arabia VAT calculator FAQs

What is the VAT rate in Saudi Arabia?

The standard VAT rate in Saudi Arabia is 15%. Some goods and services can be zero-rated, exempt or taxed at different rates, so always check the rules that apply to your supply with ZATCA (Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority).

How do I calculate VAT in Saudi Arabia?

Multiply the price excluding VAT by 0.15 to get the VAT amount, then add it to the price. For example, SAR 1,000.00 + 15% = SAR 1,150.00.

How do I remove VAT from a price in Saudi Arabia?

Divide the VAT-inclusive price by 1.15. For example, SAR 1,150.00 ÷ 1.15 = SAR 1,000.00, which means the VAT portion is SAR 150.00. Subtracting 15% from the gross price gives the wrong answer.

Who has to register for VAT in Saudi Arabia?

Businesses whose taxable supplies exceed SAR 375,000 in annual taxable supplies (mandatory registration). Registration thresholds and voluntary registration rules change, so confirm the current figures with ZATCA (Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority).

Is this calculator official?

No. It is a free convenience tool for quick estimates and is not tax or legal advice. For filing and compliance, rely on ZATCA (Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority) or a qualified tax adviser.
